Terrain sources

Real elevation tiles distributed by Mapzen through the AWS Terrain Tiles public dataset.

• Europe terrain produced using Copernicus data and information funded by the European Union, EU-DEM layers.
• Global GMTED2010 and SRTM terrain data courtesy of the U.S. Geological Survey.
• United Kingdom terrain © Environment Agency copyright and/or database right 2015. All rights reserved.
• Global ETOPO1 terrain data: U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Elevation is displayed in ten-metre contour steps, without vertical exaggeration. Ground position uses a local geographic projection; flight distances follow great-circle calculations. This is an exploratory website, not a navigation aid. Water and fine surface features are limited by the elevation data.
